The Galvanizing Gap
Every leadership team has someone who can rally a room when momentum stalls. Far fewer have someone who actually wants to. Using the Work Genius framework, here's what that gap costs, and the simple fix.
A Working Competency costs you energy every time you reach for it. A Working Genius costs you very little, even hours in; the difference is what to look for on a team.
A team can have plenty of people who can Galvanize and nobody who's energized by it. That's a quieter failure than a skills gap, because nobody ever names it.
This gap shows up most on teams assembled fast: a reorg, a new structure, people who didn't choose each other.
The Fix: name the gap out loud, then rotate the job on purpose among whoever can carry it. Don't let it default to the most conscientious person in the room.
If you want help finding where this shows up on your team, that's one of the first things I map in a 180-day plan.
